Going there
First off I got a friend to pick me up at 4:30 to drive me to the airport
I got up at 3:30 and called her to insure she was up
Got to the airport around 5ish check my bags, of course no coffee in the coffe machine par for the course and the restaurant wasn’t opened yet
Went thru security no problem and waited… boarded the plane to Toronto and were delayed for 25
Got to Toronto and made my way to Gate 76
No seating in the area at Terminal 1 at the gates… you sit in the food courts…found a seat and waited for a server…SURPRISE SURPRISE … self serve
So let’s see your luggage is heading to Cancun (Great) you have a carry-on (computer) and duty free bottle…you are by yourself you have to leave your table “the only one available” get a drink and possibly some packaged food (yuck) and hope your table is still available…no such luck
You find a chair “handicap” to sit in… at this point I really don’t care about anything” you wait 2 hours for your LATE flight
They start to board…so what would you do” leave the comfortable chair and go to the gate right”
WRONG!! You stand there with 200 others doing the same thing
Now they tell you they are boarding ACCORDING TO ZONES ?????
Of course you are the last zone… so you stand in the walkway with everyone else blocking people trying to make their way to other gates
Finally you board and leave
The Ride to the Hotel
So you get to Mexico “at last” go through customs security the works NO PROBLEM
And get to your bus that takes you to the hotel
It is mentioned that the $13.00 US beer will only cost you $5.00 US (that the 1.50 beer you buy in the stores…BUT do you get one when you get to your seat NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You wait 30 minutes until the driver and spoke person end their thing and the bus leaves but by now you are no longer interested in chugging down a cold one your hotel is 10 minutes away
Going home
The Ride from the Hotel
As directed by my Air Canada rep I checked out of my room and was waiting for the bus at 10:45
15 minutes before the bus was to arrive
11:00 no bus….11:15 no bus … asked on of the staff when the bus to the airport was to arrive
This is really good “ BUS TOO LARGE TO COME UP HERE YOU HAVE TO GET BUS ON STREET”
I KNEW THAT WAS ALL WRONG
Finally at 11:25 the bus arrived and we got to the airport
Flying home
NICE AIRPORT….restaurants…places to site whiule you wait at you gate…Plane of course is late leaving
We travelled for 3 hours in the air and it amazes me that people don’t eat in a food area where they have room and decent food
No the sit in cramped seats eat food like pizza (that the lady next to me tried to cut her husband ended up ripping it apart for her to eat with his hands the plastic cutlery wouldn’t cut it ) no pun intended
An of course the boxes and waste sit on their trays in front of them for the also the rest of the flight where it is quickly picked up (we are about to land)
So you get off and walk to your next gate no big deal customs etc excellent…still hate removing my belt and trying to re tread it through the loops… I usually sit on the bed with my pants lowered and move the belt through the loops…I find it difficult to get my arms all the way around at my age
So we are ready to leave according to my Air Canada notices on my phone
OPPS… there will be a slight delay … I guess they need a pilot and stewardess …so now boarding of 8:00 is now 8:30
So we wait…. OPPS another delay …they don’t say why but now it will be after 9:00 to board
I call my friend to tell him about my delay (remember he agreed to piuck me up at a decent time 10:00 or so)
It will be late and diving late at night would be unsafe for him so I tell hime not to worry I will catch a taxi home
We finally get on the plane … but it has to de-ice …so we drive all over the place to get to the de-cicing area … then taxi to our take off area and actually get in the air
The flight was good Elizabeth the stewardess was great the pilots were excellent
We had to cirle the airport a few time to see the runway but finally got down
I think it was 12 or 12:30 now and managed to get a ride for $50.00 dollars home
At this point I don’t really care
THIS NIGHTMARE VACATION IS OVER
